Beyond the Trading Screen: ATrad APIs Power Connected Broker Experiences

Today’s investors expect more than order placement. They want live market information, convenient account access, efficient payment updates and a smooth experience across every digital channel. ATrad helps Colombo Stock Exchange member firms meet these expectations through a comprehensive suite of Application Programming Interfaces, or APIs. These APIs allow stockbroker firms to connect a wide range of capabilities from the ATrad Order Management & Broker Back Office Systems with their own mobile apps, web portals and other authorized channels. Firms can therefore create their own enhanced digital experiences while using ATrad as the underlying capital markets technology layer, acting as the bridge between their digital platforms and the stock exchange.

Connecting the Complete Trading Experience

ATrad APIs enable the controlled exchange of information and functionality between ATrad and systems operated or authorized by a broker. The APIs currently available and utilized by brokers include the following:

1. Order Lifecycle Management

ATrad provides APIs that allow authorized broker platforms to support key stages of the order lifecycle and extend essential trading functions to their clients, including:
  1. Order placement
  2. Order amendment
  3. Order cancellation
  4. Order status and execution updates
  5. Order and transaction record access
  6. Portfolio, account statement and account summary access
  7. Market depth and security information
  8. Authorized user information required by the connected platform

2. Receipt API

Update Buying Power instantly, without manual intervention. When a client completes a transfer through a supported bank or digital wallet, the Receipt API communicates the receipt details directly to the broker’s ATrad environment. The client’s Account Summary and Buying Power can be updated immediately, helping the client trade without missing an opportunity. ATrad currently supports live Receipt API integrations with the following local banks:
  • Nations Trust Bank (NTB)
  • DFCC Bank
  • National Development Bank (NDB)
  • Commercial Bank
  • People’s Bank
Live integrations are also available with the following digital wallets:
  • Dialog Pay (formerly Dialog Gene)
  • JustPay by LankaPay
These integrations create a smoother connection between the client’s payment journey and trading account.

3. Payments API

The Payment API retrieves client payment details recorded through a connected payment channel or external system and communicates them to the ATrad OMS. This supports timely updates to the client’s Account Summary and Buying Power while reducing duplicate data entry and manual reconciliation.

4. Market Data API

The Market Data API provides brokers with access to real time market data from the Colombo Stock Exchange through ATrad. Relevant ticker, security, pricing and market information can be extended to a broker’s own mobile app, web portal or another authorized channel. This allows brokers to provide live CSE market information through their own branded platforms while using ATrad as the underlying technology connection. The specific market data provided will depend on the broker’s requirements, agreed scope and applicable access permissions.

5. User Account Management API

The User Account Management API supports the management and validation of user accounts. It can confirm whether a user already exists and retrieves relevant user details using a National Identity Card number or passport number. This enables smoother integration with external onboarding and client management platforms while helping brokers reduce duplicate user records and improve account administration.

Extending the Full Power of ATrad

ATrad’s API capabilities are not limited to the services currently being used by brokers. Information and functionality available within the ATrad OMS and Broker Back Office can be extended to an authorized broker system through APIs based on the broker’s requirements. If additional data or functionality is required, the ATrad team can review the use case and define the most suitable integration approach. This allows each API connection to be aligned with the broker’s technology environment, operating processes and intended client experience.

Trusted by Leading CSE Broker Firms

Several leading Sri Lankan stockbroking firms currently use ATrad APIs to extend services to their clientele:
  • Asia Securities
  • Capital Alliance Limited (CAL)
  • First Capital
  • John Keells Stock Brokers

  • Softlogic Stockbrokers
Their use of ATrad APIs reflects the growing importance of connected technology within Sri Lanka’s capital market.

Available to Every Broker Connected to ATrad

Any broker firm connected to ATrad services can request access to the relevant APIs as an add on service. The ATrad team will work with the broker to understand the intended use, identify the required data and functionality, define the scope, and complete the necessary configuration and testing. Through its API framework, ATrad gives brokers the flexibility to connect trading, account, payment, receipt and market information with their own digital ecosystems. This helps brokers improve efficiency, introduce new digital services and respond to the changing expectations of investors.
